  • 500g squid rings (fresh or defrosted)
  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons pepper
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg

Combine egg and buttermilk in a medium bowl.
Combine breadcrumbs, salt, pepper and flour in a second bowl.
Roll squid rings into buttermilk mixture then in breadcrumb mixture.
Layer calamari along the bottom of the air fryer basket, in a single layer.
Cook for 10-12 minutes on 200 degrees Celcius (400F) or until golden brown.
Repeat with remaining calamari rings until they are all cooked.
  • Avoid over-filling your air fryer basket as it will prevent your calamari from getting crispy.
  • Serve with your favourite dipping sauce or side salad.
