Searching for baked haddock fish recipes? We have a haddock recipe with honey to share with you today.

I have learned recently how much you can do with fish... with just a little bit of experimenting... and creativity, the possibilities are endless.

My typical fish dinners of the past would entail salt, pepper, bake, and then whatever sauce I made or had on hand would complete our fish dinners.

Side dishes were the stars of those dinners, but not anymore! I have thoroughly enjoyed creating new menu items for dinner. I have found there are certain things that just go together like honey and cayenne pepper. It is a favorite of mine.

I decided to try something new and experiment with honey and haddock fish. Honey has many benefits to the body so I decided why not? Now you may be thinking honey and fish? Yuck Cara! I am a big fan of sweet and spicy so I thought since it works well with chicken, it had to work well with fish too, right?

Baked Haddock with Honey

What you will need:

  1. 1 package of Haddock Fish (3 pieces)
  2. 1/2 c butter divided
  3. 1 c gluten free bread crumbs (this has the consistency of crackers so you could use crackers if not baking GF)
  4. 1/4 c honey
  5. 1/2 t cayenne pepper
  6. 1 t dried parsley

How to make Haddock with honey

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Melt butter in baking dish
  • Add GF bread crumbs to melted butter
  • Mix together
  • Place haddock in shallow baking dish
  • Spoon mixture over fish
  • Bake for 25 minutes
  • Melt remaining butter, add honey, cayenne pepper, and parsley, mix all together
  • Remove haddock from oven, drizzle mixture over haddock
  • Continue baking until top is browning

The haddock was flaky, and the bread crumbs were crispy, sweet, and a bit of spice, what more can you ask for?

I made a simple salad on this evening as our side dish and dinner was served. We do enjoy our salads around here, they can be simple or elaborate, doesn't matter to us.

When I asked Mr. VS if he liked this recipe, he replied, I would eat that again. So there you have it folks, honey does pair well with fish.

As I look at the above picture, I notice it resembles fried chicken. I am thinking I may try this on chicken too. The thing I love the most is that you just mix up the ingredients, and then place on top of the fish. No dredging, and washing and then dredging again.

Fried chicken is something I will only make about once a year. I am not a fan of making it since there are so many steps, and dishes, and mess, and clean up stinks, and my hands are covered in yuck... lol. Yes, I like to keep my hands clean while I cook and bake. It may be a pet peeve of mine... I do not like flour all over my hands.

I am telling you, dinner has to be simple and easy. I am just glad I have learned how to cook and bake while doing this. I am also happy I realized you do not have to sacrifice taste while keeping everything to a minimum. Better late than never... it may have taken me a few decades, but I have it down pat now.
