Disclaimer: first of all thank you for being here! Secondly, if you are not a fan of dill pickles I encourage you to check out one of my other recipes. With dried dill, chopped dill pickles and pickle juice all mixed with garlic powder, cream cheese and sour cream, you could say this Dill Pickle Dip has a good amount of pickle flavor. If you’re a pickle fan, you came to the right place!

I admit I wasn’t much of a pickle fan until my first pregnancy. Pickles seem to be one of the most popular foods attributed to pregnancy cravings, i.e. pickles & ice cream. It’s not that I necessarily craved them, but more like came around to eating them on sandwiches, burgers and other recipes like this Dill Pickle Dip.

In recent years, we’ve grown a decent crop of cucumbers in our garden and made our own pickles. Everything from bread & butter, spicy dill to regular dills. My kids love them for crunchy snacks, so needless to say we go through our fair share of them in our house.

How To Make Dill Pickle Dip

This Dill Pickle Dip requires one bowl and comes together in a matter of minutes. In a mixing bowl, whip together softened cream cheese and sour cream. I like to use a electric mixer for this to get everything nice and creamy.

To this mixture add the chopped pickles, garlic powder, dried dill & pickle juice. Fresh dill could also be used, but dried works just fine and it’s a staple in my spice drawer. Use a spoon or spatula to mix the dip until well combined and that’s it! Keep the dip in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Garnish the top with some extra chopped pickles for some color.

What Pickles Are Best?

I prefer the flavor of traditional Kosher dill pickles for this recipe. I usually buy the baby dills as they are easy to chop up. If you make your own or come across some homemade dill pickles, I’m sure they would be great in this recipe! Just remember, pickles are the main focus of this dip so whichever kind or flavor you choose will be the distinct flavor. Taste test the pickles to make sure you like them!

Can It Be Made Ahead of Time?

Yes! The Dill Pickle Dip can be made up to 2-3 days in advance. The flavors of the dip will continue to meld together. Just be sure to give it a good stir before serving!

How To Serve It

Serve this Dill Pickle Dip just as you would serve a regular dill or French onion dip, with the most popular choice being potato chips. It’s an addicting combination! For a healthier option, pair with some fresh cut veggies or pretzels. This dip would make a great picnic or potluck dip and can easy be scaled to make a bigger amount.

Have you ever heard of Pickle Roll-Ups? They are another Midwest claim to fame and are essentially a pickle wrapped in cream cheese and a slice of ham, then sliced into coins. They are a popular appetizer here in my neck of the woods and couldn’t ignore the line drawn between them and this dip. To mimic the flavor of Pickle Roll-Ups, add some diced ham to the dip. This Dill Pickle Dip would also be fabulous used as a spread for a wrap or deli sandwich!
