This recipe for an easy chocolate dessert that would be the perfect finishing touch after your Valentine’s Day dinner or any date night at home.
It uses only a few basic ingredients and can be made ahead of time, so you can sit back and relax at dinner.
This easy Chocolate Pots of Crème recipe makes four sweet little jars of rich and creamy chocolate magic.
If you’re having a romantic dinner for two, you’ll have two to enjoy after dinner and two more to save for a day or so later.
Or, if you’re having a Valentine’s Day dinner with the kids included, they will love having their own little mini dessert to eat right out of a tiny jar!
Let’s get started!
How to Make Easy Chocolate Pots de Crème
Ingredients
You only need a few very basic ingredients to make this luscious dessert:
- chocolate chips- good quality makes a difference. I used these Ghiradelli Semi-Sweet Premium Baking Chips.
- heavy cream (you could sub Half/Half if you prefer)
- one large egg
- sugar
- pinch of salt
- optional garnish of whipped cream, fresh raspberries, or mint sprigs
Blend
The secret to making these luscious desserts so quickly and easily is a high-speed blender.
Just add the chocolate chips, sugar, egg, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt to the blender, and pulse until combined.
Then, slowly drizzle in the hot cream (which has been heated to boiling in the microwave), and blend on high speed for about a minute.
The heat from the cream will melt the chocolate, cook the egg, and turn everything into a smooth, creamy chocolate mixture.
Chill
Pour the chocolate cream into four small Mason jars (4-ounce size), and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
The small jars are perfectly portioned for this rich and decadent dessert.
Serve
When you’re ready to serve, just top with a dollop of whipped cream and some fresh raspberries. A spring of mint would also look lovely, or even just a sprinkle of baking cocoa across the top.
These cute little chocolate pots of cream can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge up to 3 days. When you’re ready for dessert, they’ll be waiting for you. 💕
