You know the saying "everything tastes better in wonton cups"? It's true! I love these jalapeno poppers because they have the same flavor as regular, cheesy poppers, but you don't need to worry about biting into a whole pepper with seeds and all. Plus, it's much easier to eat them on the fly! The cheesy bacon goodness that fills each cup is just so drool-worthy.

Jalapeno popper wonton cups are easy to make. These tips will help ensure your dish is a success.

  • Allow all of the ingredients to get to room temperature before starting.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F before you start working with the ingredients.

  • Spray two muffin tins with nonstick cooking spray, and add two overlapped wonton wrappers to each.
  • For the filling, mix the room temperature ingredients in a large bowl.
  • Use a tablespoon-sized scooper and add the mixture to each wonton center.
  • Bake wontons for 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly golden-brown and filling is bubbly.

Recipe Variations

  • You can fold these into little bites like these Baked Crab Rangoons and bake them in a mini muffin tin to keep them upright. However, by using two wonton papers per cup, these bake up sturdier in a standard-sized muffin tin.
  • Low-fat turkey bacon and low-fat cream cheese/shredded cheese can be subbed in to make these less calories.
  • Fresh jalapeños with the ribs and seeds removed (with gloved hands) can also be used instead of pickled, jarred chiles.

Storing Leftovers

These are best when eaten the same day, while warm. But, you can store them in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.

To reheat, just put them back into an oven (on a baking sheet) at 350 degrees F (or any other heated appliance, i.e. air fryer) until warmed throughout; about 3-5 minutes.

  • 16 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 6 slices bacon cooked until crisp
  • 1/4 cup green onion diced
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
