Ingredients To Make Tropical Themed Cookies

I don’t do many recipes in my blog but lately I have been trying to make super easy recipes that are fun and quick. This tropical themed cookie recipe is one that anyone can make and they don’t have to be perfect.

  • Sugar Cookie Mix: I used Betty Crocker’s sugar cookie mix.

  • Series of icing: I used Betty Crocker cookie icing in white, yellow, green, red, blue and writing icing

  • Tropical cookie cutters: Found these in Amazon, they came with a flamingo and a few other shapes. I used the palm tree, crab, clam, star and shark

How To Make Tropical Themed Cookies

  1. Since I used a cookie mix, read the directions on the back.

2. Roll the dough out and place on flat flour surface. Roll the dough about 1/4 inch thick.

3. Start cutting out the tropical cookie shapes. Preheat oven at 350 degrees.

4. Carefully place them on a ungreased cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Bake for around 10 minutes until golden on the edges.

5. Place them on a plate to get them ready to ice.

How To Decorate The Tropical cookies

Since July 4th is around the corner I wanted to make them super festive. I added a few star cookie cutter to decorate with fireworks. They will go above the tropical shapes. I purchased already made icing. The tubes were super easy to used. I used red, white and blue for the fireworks on the stars. For the palm tree I used yellow and green. For the shark I used blue icing and for the clam I used white.

I started with the stars and iced them blue and white.

With the writing icing tube I created little dots to create the fireworks.

For the palm tree I outlined the upper part with green icing and filled the trunk with yellow icing. You can fill the center of the palm with icing but I prefer the outline instead.

The shark was easy to ice . You outline with blue icing and then fill the center with blue icing. Add a few drops of red and yellow to create the eyes and mouth.

Why REady To Made icing

Ready to make icing makes it easy to create cute decorated cookies in minutes. Since I am super busy with my life its the perfect way to get things done quickly. I have dried making icing but find its doesn’t set fast compared to ready to made icing and it dries smooth for stacking.

I don’t have to spend extra money on tools for writing or outlining on cookies so the smaller already made tubes are perfect for writing.
