These Melted Snowmen Cookies are fun to ‘build’! Start with your favorite cookie as a base; homemade, slice and bake or store bought.
Fun for Christmas or winter months too, these Melted Snowmen Cookies are a tasty project for a cold January day!
Here's what you need:
- Cookies (I used Nigella’s Chocolate Shortbread Cookies as a base, that as Nigella says, are a “doddle” to make :) but you can use the cookie of your choice.)
- Vanilla flavored or white almond bark / candy coating (substitute white chocolate chips or candy melts if you prefer)
- Mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups for snowman hats
- Mini Chocolate Chips for eyes
- Orange jimmie sprinkles for carrot noses
Here are the steps:
- Follow the directions on the almond bark/candy coating package and microwave until coating is melted and smooth, stirring every 30 seconds.
- Spoon melted candy coating over each cookie to resemble melted snow.
- While coating is wet, add a peanut butter cup half and sliver to create a hat and brim.
- Decorate the face with mini chocolates chips for eyes and an orange jimmie for a carrot nose.
- Allow candy coating and snowman features to set, about 20 minutes.
There's a bit of a learning curve, cutting the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. I had better luck cutting them with wrapper on from the wide end to prevent them from crumbling. After you cut them in half, cut a small sliver off the wide end to create a hat brim.

Tips
- I found through trial and error that mini Reese’s cup are easier to cut without crumbling if you leave the foil wrapper on and wide end up, using a serrated knife.
- Alternatively use Reese’s Peanut Butter Bells for the hats for quicker assembly and less cutting.
- I used Nigella’s Christmas Chocolate Cookies as a base for the snowmen.
