Chocolate Chip Cranberry Nut Bars

12 Cookie Bars
55 min

I made these on a cold, snowy day—what better way to spend a day like that than baking something yummy, right? You can use frozen cranberries or fresh, although fresh can be hard to find sometimes. You'll need an 8 x 8" square pan to make these—a 9 x 9" pan won't work as well. I used semi-sweet chocolate chips in my bars, but you could use white, milk, or dark chocolate chips instead—whatever kind of chips you like best!

These bars take about 40 minutes to bake—the top of the bars bake up with a glossy sheen which may make you think they aren’t done baking, but give it the toothpick test—after 40 to 42 minutes, they should be done! The edges will be golden and the center area just very lightly golden.

Stir in the flour and melted butter, blending everything well.
Add the cranberries, chopped nuts, and chocolate chips, mixing gently until these are evenly incorporated into the batter.
Spread batter evenly in prepared pan and bake at 350˚F for 40 to 42 minutes or until edges are golden brown and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
Let cool completely, then cut into large or small bars.
