One of my favorite things about cooking is attempting to remake really yummy dishes from restaurants. Although they don’t always taste exactly the same, it is such a fun process, it is usually healthier for you, and sometimes they turn out even better than the restaurant’s version! I’m honestly not a big fan of very many things from McDonald’s, but I do LOVE their bacon, egg and cheese McGriddles. So of course I have to make my own once in awhile! These copycat McDonald’s McGriddles are my go to breakfast on the weekends. When you can’t decide between pancakes or eggs and bacon, why not combine all three?!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Krusteaz pancake mix (+ additional ingredients according to directions on box, if required)
  • 4 Tbsp maple syrup
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 slices of cheese
  • 4 strips of bacon, cooked to your liking
Instructions

Make the bacon however you’d like and make the pancake mix according to directions on the box.
Heavily grease circle molds if you have them. If not, you can use the ring from large mason jars instead.
Heat a skillet to medium low heat and pour the pancake mix into the molds. Drizzle each pancake with about 1/2 Tbsp of syrup and stir lightly so it mixes in.
Fry for about 3 minutes.
Carefully remove the ring and flip the pancakes. It might not stay in a perfect circle and that’s okay! You can clean up the edges later if needed.
Fry the other side of the pancakes for 1-2 minutes.
Once those are done, scramble your eggs and grease the circle molds again.
Pour the eggs into the molds and cook for 3 minutes, flip, and fry for an additional 1-2 minutes. Top with cheese.
Assemble your McGriddle! Pancake, egg, cheese, bacon, pancake. Enjoy!
Tips
  • You can use whatever pancake mix you like, or you can even make homemade. I like to use Krusteaz because it doesn’t seem to dry out and the only additional ingredient required is water. Simplicity is key in my opinion!

I did not see the calorie count listed anywhere in the nutritional information. Don't you think folks should be aware of what they are putting in their mouths?

Hey Carol, when I clicked on the Nutritional Information button, it looks like it lists each McGriddle at 469 calories.
