A Hershey's Perfectly chocolate cake covered in chocolate frosting and decorated in sweet marshmallow spiderwebs.

Good morning friends! Saturday is Halloween so there is still plenty of time to plan a little family party and make this scrumptious Hershey's Perfectly chocolate cake. The cake is covered in my favorite chocolate frosting and decorated with sweet creamy marshmallow webs, and a few candy eyes. This is a cute and tasty dessert that your kids will love. You can also make cupcakes and decorate them individually if you prefer.

If you want to save yourself some time simply used a box cake mix but please do not use frosting from a tub, it doesn't taste very good and this chocolate frosting is super easy to make. Not only that, it is the best part of the cake. I promise that you will like the frosting so much that you will be eating it out of the bowl with a spoon. Or am I the only one that does that?

Have a happy and safe Halloween and make the cake!

Spiders and creamy marshmallow webs.

If you want you can also add a marzipan spider or two.

Be careful with the hot marshmallow so that you do not burn your fingers.

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
  • 2/3 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Marshmallow Spiderwebs
  • 10 large marshmallows
Instructions
Cake
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla; beat on medium speed of mixer 2 minutes.
Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin). Pour batter into prepared pans.
Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in the pans then remove cakes from pans to wire racks. Cool completely. Frost with "PERFECTLY CHOCOLATE" CHOCOLATE FROSTING.
Stir together sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt in large bowl.
Frosting
Melt butter. Stir in cocoa. Alternately add powdered sugar and milk, beating to spreading consistency.
Add small amount additional milk, if needed. Stir in vanilla. About 2 cups frosting.
Spider Webs
Melt the marshmallows in the microwave for 1 minute then stir until smooth, if they are not totally melted put them into the microwave for another 10-20 seconds, stir well. Let the marshmallows cool for a bit. Once cooled take a pinch of the marshmallows and pull it between your two fingers to make a thin string, wrap around the cake, continue to do this to make the cake look like it is covered in spiderwebs.
