So… I went apple picking recently and you can imagine how many apples I have now, with all the apple-based recipes I am planning to make, exciting!


First of the series, a one of a kind smoothie, it’s filling and tastes just like apple pie.


You may wonder how can an apple smoothie be filling. The key here is to use fiber-based ingredients such as oats as well as cashews to make the meal more dense. Yes it's higher in calories but consists of the good carbohydrates and fats that your body needs.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups apples, cubed
  • 1 cup oats
  • 1 cup milk
  • ¼ cup cashews (or other nut)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp cardamom (optional)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • Ice & water to reach desired consistency
Instructions

-Put all ingredients in a food processor / blender and mix until smooth
-Decorate with star anise and cinnamon if desired
