If you love coffee house vanilla chai tea lattes, then you'll love this recipe. It's made with a chai tea bag and not a mix. It's rich and delicious, and you don't need any special equipment to make this at home.
You can use either cow's milk or almond milk. Coconut or oat milk would also be good. This will reduce the calories without sacrificing taste.
I use Twinnings Chai tea. For this recipe, I used the extra spice tea bags.
For a sugar free chai latte, use coconut sugar or stevia. You may need to adjust the amount of sweetener for your tastes.
Vanilla Chai Tea Latte
Recipe details
Ingredients
- 2 cups milk
- 2 chai tea bags
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon cloves
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
Instructions
- Heat the almond milk and coconut sugar over low to medium heat until steaming, about 130 degrees.
- Remove from heat and add two chai tea bags. Let steep for 5 minutes.
- Remove the tea bags and squeeze. I used my tongs to get all of the flavor out of the tea bags.
- Add the vanilla and spices and stir well. My cinnamon clumped, so I used a whisk to stir it. This froths it a little, too.
- Pour into a mug, top with cinnamon if you want, and enjoy your vanilla chai tea latte.
