FAQs
What is St. Germain?St. Germain is a French liqueur made from elderflower, a flower from the Elderberry Tree.
What does St. Germain taste like?St. Germain has a combination of floral, fresh citrus, and tropical fruit flavors.
Can I substitute another liqueur if I don’t have St. Germain? I created this drink around the elderflower flavor and would not recommend substituting it with another liqueur. However, St. Germain can be a little on the pricier side, so I often use an ‘off brand’ of elderflower liqueur when making this drink. I often use Drillaud Elderflower liqueur which is about half the cost of St. Germain, and I don’t notice the difference in taste between the two.
Can I use another fruit instead of raspberries? Yes! I have tried making this drink with blackberries and absolutely loved it! You want to use a fruit that will produce a lot of flavorful juices when muddled.
What is a muddler? A muddler is a bartender’s tool. It is used to crush, or macerate, fruits and herbs to bring out their flavors.

Ingredients
- 2 ounces Vodka
- 2 ounces St. Germain
- 1/2 ounce lemon juice
- 6 Raspberries
- Ice
Directions
- Combine all ingredients (except ice) in a cocktail shaker.
- Using a muddler, crush the raspberries until they are broken up, or macerated.
- Add 2-3 ice cubes. Put the top on the cocktail shaker and shake, shake, shake!
- (optional) The muddled raspberries get stuck in the cocktail strainer, so I take the top off and use a mesh strainer to strain the liquid into a glass, or just pour straight in a glass to leave the muddled raspberries in your drink.
Notes
- Having a cocktail shaker and muddler will be helpful in making this recipe.
