I love trying fun new drinks filled with fruit and herbs in the summer. There's something so refreshing and light about a cold sparkling drink when it's hot outside. This blackberry fizz recipe is so easy to make so you can get back to grilling those pineapples in a flash.

Blackberries are a deliciously sweet fruit and are in peak season from July to August according to Livestrong.

This Blackberry Basil Fizz is a perfect summer drink. It's easy to make with ingredients that are in season right now. Add a splash of rum or make it a mocktail for the whole family to enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 6 blackberries
  • 4 fresh basil leaves
  • 1 lemon
  • Ice
  • 1.5 ounces clear rum
  • 4 ounces lemon-lime soda (7-Up)
  • 4 ounces soda water
Instructions

Muddle three blackberries, two basil leaves, and a 1-inch long slice of lemon rind in each cocktail glass.
Fill the glass halfway with ice. Pour the rum over the ice.
Fill halfway with soda water.
Finish off with lemon-lime soda for sweetness.
Garnish with whole blackberries, a basil leaf, and a lemon rind.
Tips
  • You can adjust the ingredients to your taste or use what you have on hand. Drinks are so fluid (pun intended) and can easily be changed to your preferences.
  • This is such a simple drink, you can really substitute with anything you have on hand. I would recommend blueberries in place of the blackberries, or vodka in place of the rum. If you start going outside of that, you'll create a brand new drink. Go get it!
  • This blackberry basil fizz is delicious without any alcohol with all the fruity, herby goodness throughout!
