This is a similar recipe to my Grandmothers, but as you may have learned from watching your Grandmother cook anything she probably didn’t use measuring utensils...other than her hands and eyes 😁 Crepes are like a pancake, but better! You can stuff them with jams, jelly’s, butter, Nutella, peanut butter, eggs, sausage, bacon 🥓 You can even go super savory with pulled chicken, pulled pork or braised short ribs. You can go more of the dessert route with apple compote filling or sliced strawberries with mascarpone whipped cream!

I made these into a heart shape for Valentine’s Day for my daughter, but the round version is much easier to accomplish!

Don’t these look so scrumptious and toasty😋. If you make these for a special occasion, chocolate is always the way to go! Either chocolate chips or Nutella, yum!

Since this is a thin batter, you could create these crepes into any shape your heart desires (pun intended 😍). You can also color the batter and make some fancy pancake art! I may try the pancake art one day so stay tuned! I hope you enjoyed this recipe!

Ingredients
Batter
  • 1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk (any milk will work)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. Baking powder
  • 1 tsp. Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. Melted butter
  • Cooking spray or melted butter
Instructions

Mix all ingredients until the batter is smooth with no lumps.
Heat a small sauce pan with cooking spray or melted butter and take 1/4 cup of the batter and pour it in the middle of the pan. Immediately lift up the pan and swirl the batter in a circular motion until the batter covers most of the pan.
Flip the crepe with a spatula when the edges are starting to brown.
After about 1 minute, remove the crepe from the pan and put it on a plate. Repeat steps 2 & 3 until all the batter is finished.
Enjoy your crepes with butter, syrup, jelly, peanut butter, Nutella or filled with scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage. Enjoy! 🍳 🥓
Tips
  • The picture above has 1/2 cup whole wheat flour substituted for 1/2 white flour. You will need to add 1/4 cup more milk.
