Strawberry Mimosa

The mimosa is a classic brunch cocktail. This cocktail recipe has been delighting patrons for years. It’s light and traditionally not too sweet. The beauty in this simple recipe is that it can be customized to fit your preferences and you can get creative with flavors.

A traditional mimosa is made with 2 ounces of fresh squeezed orange juice. Fresh ingredients are key to any good cocktail and it’s easy enough to squeeze an orange and made this small amount of juice. Add the juice along with a bit of Cointreau to a champagne flute. Top with chilled champagne, stir gently, and serve.

The bubbly component comes from a sweet pink rose that goes perfectly with fresh strawberries.

Try this mimosa for brunch this Spring.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 bottle sparkling moscato
  • Strawberry slices for garnish
Instructions

In a blender, like my favorite Ninja, combine strawberries and oranges and puree until smooth.
Place a fine mesh strainer over a glass measuring cup and strain the blended mixture to remove seeds.
In a chilled champagne flute pour a small amount of the strawberry puree to fill half the glass.
Top with sparkling wine and stir gently to combine.
Garnish with a strawberry slice.
Tips
  • The strawberry and orange juice puree will be thick and have almost a smoothie consistency. It will take some time to get the mixture through the strainer but the end result is worth the wait. No seeds in your drink.
  • Try using different fruits in this recipe to make a rainbow of cocktails.
