When I traveled to Northern Thailand in 2017, I was lucky to not only volunteer at an elephant sanctuary, but I was able to immerse myself into the food culture of the city I was visiting. Now, you may have seen this orange drink at Thai or Vietnamese restaurants you have visited. But do you know what it is? Why is it called tea? What makes it Thai iced tea? The orange color is an additive to the black tea. If you prefer no additives, you can make this with just black tea and it will have the same flavor, but not the orange color. The typical sweetener/dairy added to this drink is sweetened condensed milk. I mix mine with some whole milk to cut back a tad on the sugar. I cooked up some boba and added to this drink for the ultimate beverage experience. This is definitely a treat of a drink, but one I hope you will try!
