Christmas is almost here and this Nutella Bread Wreath is perfect for this time of the year!

It is also very versatile, you can have it for breakfast, to accompany your afternoon coffee or tea, or as a dessert after dinner! It is so beautiful that you can also gift it to friends or family! One thing is for sure - everyone falls in love with it!

Regarding the filling, I used Nutella but you can use other fillings like dulce de leche or salted caramel, or you can just leave the cinnamon and the nuts as mentioned in the recipe.

SAVE the recipe! It is a gorgeous wreath that will make you and your loved ones very happy

Ingredients
For the bread
  • 30g sugar
  • 1 lemon, thin peelings of skin only
  • 120 g warm milk
  • 30 g butter
  • 7 g of dry yeast
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 300 g bread flour, plus extra for dusting
  • 1 pinch of fine sea salt
For the filling
  • 50 g halved walnuts
  • 50 g butter, soft
  • 60 g sugar
  • 2 Tbsp of ground cinnamon
  • 5 Tbsp of nutella
  • icing sugar for dusting
Instructions
For the bread
Place sugar and lemon peel in a food processor and bring until for 15 secs - highest power
Transfer sugar and lemon to a sauce pan and add the warm milk, butter and yeast and mid heat for a couple of minutes while stirring. Leave it to rest for a couple of minutes.
Add flour and salt then knead for 2 min. Take the dough out and form into a ball . Wrap loosely in cling film and leave it to rise in a warm place until double the size (1.5-2 hrs). meanwhile prepare the filing
For the filling
Place walnuts in a food processor and bring for 4 seconds . Transfer to a bowl and set aside
Place butter, sugar and cinnamon in a mixing bowl and mix until all ingredients are well combined
30 Minutes before the dough finished risen, preheat oven to 180 C and line a baking tray with baking paper
When dough has risen , roll out on a floured work surface to a rectangle ( aprox. 40cm x 50 cm)
Spread filling thinly over dough then sprinkle with reserved chopped nuts . Roll up lengthwise then cut down middle of roll, but not completely though one end (so strands are connected at top). Twist each half over each other so that the cut side faces up then join ends together to form a circle
Place on a prepared baking tray and bake for 20 mins (180c) or until golden brown.
Remove it from oven , transfer to a wire rack and dust some icing sugar on top. Serve once it has cooled
