This Virgin Piña Colada recipe is full of sweet pineapple, creamy coconut, and lime juice. Blend with some ice for the perfect summer drink. It's so tasty you won't even know it's alcohol-free!

Piña coladas are known for being super sweet and having a creamy texture. This recipe contains only four simple ingredients and no sugar which makes it a lot healthier than the traditional piña colada. Pineapple juice is so sweet itself, I don't think an additional sweetener is necessary and I think you will agree.

How to make this recipe

  1. The first step in making this virgin piña colada recipe is to blend the pineapple juice, coconut cream, lime juice, and ice in a blender at medium-high speed.
  2. Blend for about two minutes until the piña colada is smooth and creamy. It should be the consistency of a milkshake or smoothie. Top with a piece of fresh pineapple, a maraschino cherry, and a straw. If you're feeling extra fancy, add a paper umbrella!
What is a Pina Colada

A piña colada is a frozen alcoholic beverage made of rum, pineapple juice, cream of coconut, and sometimes lime juice. Piña coladas are commonly blended with ice and topped with a fresh pineapple slice and maraschino cherry for a refreshing summer drink.

Cream of coconut vs. coconut cream

Cream of coconut is an incredibly sweet liquid used in desserts and alcoholic beverages like piña coladas. A well-known brand is Coco Lopez.

Cream of coconut is not the same as coconut cream. It is made by simmering shredded coconut with water until the cream comes to the top. Coconut cream is the thick, creamy part found in canned coconut milk which is free from sweeteners.
