I absolutely love these orange coconut milk popsicles. They are so refreshing, so delicious and SOOO easy to make! Just 3 ingredients needed!

I love making my own popsicles. The possibilities are endless! My favorite homemade popsicle from last year was my watermelon mint popsicles. It’s only May and I already know these orange coconut milk pops are going to be my favorite for this summer. So refreshing, creamy and did I mention– just 3 ingredients?? I love that.

Ingredients for orange coconut milk popsicles

  • Canned coconut milk – just regular canned coconut milk is what you want. Not coconut cream and preferably not the reduced fat kind
  • Orange juice
  • Maple syrup

And that is all you need to make a delicious orange coconut milk popsicle. If you are feeling frisky a little fresh grated ginger is very nice in these but definitely not required!

How to make

To make these popsicles, you will need a mixing bowl, whisk and a popsicle mold. This is the one I use!

A little tip with the coconut milk! The coconut cream tends to separate and start to solidify in the can leaving the thinner, watery coconut milk on the bottom. To avoid this, I place the cans of coconut milk in a bowl and run hot water from the kitchen sink over the cans for a few minutes. This will ensure smooth coconut milk.

After you’ve done that, add the coconut milk and whisk to make sure its totally smooth. Then add the orange juice and maple syrup. Whisk and pour into the popsicle mold.

How to keep popsicle sticks from getting crooked

Since the popsicle mixture is thin, the sticks will start to float and become crooked. To combat this, soak the popsicle sticks in water an hour before you plan to make them. After you’ve filled the molds and placed them in the freezer, set a time for about 30 minutes. Then go in and straighten out all of the popsicle sticks. By this time, the popsicle mixture should be starting to get thicker and the sticks will be “water logged” and they should stay put.

How long do homemade popsicles need to freeze?

A general rule of thumb is 6 hours and that is what I recommend for these. If you are really just dying for your orange coconut milk popsicle like right now, you could probably sneak one out at the 4 hour mark.

How to remove the popsicles from the mold

After removing the lid and and your chosen popsicle from the tray, run the mold under lukewarm water and gently tug on the popsicle stick until it slides out. It’s better to just use lukewarm water as opposed to hot water. Hot water will start to melt the end of your popsicle.

And you’re ready to enjoy!! I hope you enjoy these orange coconut milk popsicles as much as I do! If you try them, please let me know by commenting and leaving a rating below. You can also tag me on instagram @thefigjar.

This recipe looks so yummy. Just wondering if this could be made and placed in a container and served in dessert dishes. Thanks for any thoughts.

Let me know if I’m not understanding but I think you’re wondering about freezing the popsicle mixture in individual dishes and serving with like a spoon? If so, you definitely could try it, but I haven’t so I don’t know exactly how it’d turn out. When frozen, these are on the hard side but if you let the dishes thaw a bit after removing from the freezer it would probably be ok. Still would taste good!
