Fancy Smoked Salmon & Toast

Let me just say, I've never really "gotten" the whole charcuterie craze...like, why pile your pancakes on a cutting board with bacon and eggs and stuff...won't it all get cold by the time you serve it? Sorry, but I have to be honest! However, they do seem so fun to make, and with this combination, I normally put it out on a dish, or in individual dishes anyway, so I figured, "Why not try it out charcuterie-style?". And as you can see, it was pretty photogenic. The only thing that really can be classified as a "recipe" here, is the homemade whipped cream cheese...and that's just too easy. It's also ESSENTIAL to the flavor profile of this brunch. So keep reading, and get your charcuterie on!

  • Must say i agree with you about the charcuterie board - my mom made them in the 60's but on marble slabs so the cold stuff stayed cold and the room temperature items were added when setting out for guests. That's the way i have always made them myself. If it is hot food items, they require the proper buffet style covered serving pieces that at least use a sterno.

Whipped cream cheese at the market is outrageously expensive. I do what you do here - whip it up at home. And add in whatever strikes your fancy. Sames goes for compound butters, same principle.

Will look for the brand of bread you suggested, it sounds delicious! I poach the eggs, like the golden yummy goodness.

Thanks for the great idea! 🍞
