The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies. A Tried & True Recipe.

Come to my home any random day, and most likely, you’ll find these chocolate chip cookies in my cookie jar.

My husband is a man of simple taste. His usual dessert requests are chocolate chip cookies or vanilla cake with vanilla frosting. I think it a tad boring, but hey, at least he isn’t complicated.

I should take the complicated thing back though, because he is picky. If I use a different brand of butter in my baking he notices! I’ve always laughed and said he should have been a food critic. Except he can’t cook much besides scrambled eggs. Doest that matter for being a critic? Anyhow, I digress.

We went though a lot of recipes to find the perfect chocolate chip cookies. Recipes with oatmeal in them, ones with only brown sugar, not white. Ones with more butter, or more eggs. And . . . you get the point.

I’m not exactly sure how this recipe materialized, but here it is. I have it written down with the title, “Travis’s chocolate chip cookies,” so I’d stop getting confused and grabbing the wrong one. This has stood the test of almost nine years of marriage, and is made in our home no less than at least once a week.

I now purchase chocolate chips in bulk from Costco because I make them so often!

I probably shouldn’t admit that in a lifestyle and healthy living blog, but hey, it’s better than other things we could be eating and doing! Especially if we make them with organic ingredients. Which we do. 😉

Okay enough with the intro. Here is our family’s favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe.

Just a few tips to start

Truly, make sure your butter is room temperature before beginning. Set it out the night before if you remember. It really helps everything blend together into the right consistency and helps them raise correctly! If you can also let the egg get to room temp, all the better!

There’s no need to refrigerate them before baking, but if you do for a few hours they tend to rise a little more and are a tad bit thicker. Completely personal preference.

And if you can recruit a cute little helper, I swear the cookies taste even better!

This makes around three dozen, though we eat the cookie dough in this house, so that might not be entirely accurate.

The Best (in our FAMILY’S opinion) Chocolate Chip Cookies

Trust me guys, this is going to be a hit with the family. I’ll make this as a quick dessert for a gathering and they’re always gone before everyone leaves.

Don’t you feel instantly at ease when you walk into a home with cookies on the counter? I do!

Make sure to let me know if you try these out! I’d love to know how quickly your family devoured them!
