Mini Irish Soda Bread “Jersey Girl Knows Best “

10 Soda bread

Do you enjoy eating Irish soda bread on St.Patty’s Day or any other day like I do! You are going to enjoy this recipe! I make them small so they are easy to eat, easy to take to work and even easier to freeze for another day! The dough is not too sweet, but the golden raisins are and don’t forget about the toasted crunchy top that makes these tasty treats a morning or afternoon delight! Ready?! Let’s do this!

These Mini Irish Soda Breads are lightly sweet, a little crunchy and moist!

This recipe is considered a quick bread recipe because the bread is not made with yeast, it is made with baking soda and baking powder. (Fun fact: Baking powder is made with baking soda, and corn starch)

This is the mixture before the raisins go in.

It’s time for the oven!

Look how golden brown they are! Mmmm, just cut them in half and spread on some butter!

It’s a perfect addition to your breakfast or an afternoon snack with tea! I hope you enjoyed this recipe, check back for more recipes each month! You can Follow me on FoodTalk so you never miss out! 🍽

Recipe details

  • 10 Soda bread
  • Prep time: 5 Minutes|Cook time: 20 Minutes|Total time: 25 Minutes

Preheat the oven to 400F.

Combine all the dry ingredients in a medium bowl with a whisk. Make a well in the center and add the melted butter, the egg and 1 1/2 cups buttermilk. I ended up adding 2 cups buttermilk total, because you will mix it until no dry spots remain. Fold in the golden raisins.

On two parchment lined baking sheets, divide the dough into 10 mounds, about 1/3 cup each with 2 inches in between. Bake at 400°F until golden brown, about 20 to 25 minutes. Enjoy with butter and a cup of tea! 🧈 ☕️

  • I saw another recipe that soaked the raisins in Irish tea...I think I may try that next time!
