This date shake has become my go-to post-workout recovery snack!
I've lived in California for five years now and I've made my way to Palm Springs a handful of times. I always noticed how so many restaurants touted their date shakes—which I had never seen before! Wondering what the deal was with all these date shakes, I did some research and found out that California's Coachella Valley is where 90% of the world's dates are grown. Naturally, I sought out to pay homage to my state by creating a high-protein, healthy version of this famous drink.
Just one date goes a long way to add caramely sweetness, while the frozen banana adds texture and thickness to the shake. I like to make mine extra icey so I can eat it with a spoon!

Ingredients
- 1 large Medjool date, pitted
- 1/3 banana, frozen
- 1 cup oat milk
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- 15-20 ice cubes
Instructions
- Throw all ingredients into a blender for 10-15 seconds, or until the ice is completely crushed and incorporated.
- Enjoy!
