If there is one thing I miss about living in the states is the simple classic American recipes that you can find in almost any bake shop.

chocolate chips cookies, blondies, brownies.. that’s not something you can find here in bakeries.

I have started consulting for a bakery here in Israel and I have been adapting recipes to cater to the Americans that live here. We’ve been making classic cookies, and brownies and it’s been a hit.

This recipe is as basic and classic as it gets. It’s easy to make, simple, and tastes great.

This is a very versatile recipe as you can choose to add in the toppings as you wish.

this recipe is a classic blondie recipe with chocolate chips.

I recommend adding walnuts, or even shredded coconut to the recipe if you want to switch it up a bit and add more flavor.

This recipe is a non fail recipe for the people who are just starting off there baking careers!

Ingredients
For the batter
  • 8 tablespoons melted butter (115 grams) unsalted
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup AP flour
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 4 tablespoons coconut (optional)
Instructions

Heat oven to 350 degrees And line a 8inch X 8 inch metal baking pan with canola oil spray or parchment palate
In a medium size bowl whisk together the melted butter and sugar
Add in the egg and vanilla extract and whisk well
Then add in the cup of flour and salt and mix well
The batter will be thick and that’s okay
Add your topping for then end Fold in chocolate chips (and coconut, or nuts)
Spread the batter evenly in the pan and bake for 20-25 minutes
Tips
  • Bake the blondies until you see the edges becoming dark brown and crispy
  • Make sure to take them out just before they are fully cooked as they will continue to cook once they are taken out of the oven. This will help with make there gooey texture
  • Wait until cooled and then slice into bars as you wish. You can also bake in a pie pan as I did just watch the oven to make sure the blondies don’t over cook.
