Roasted Tomatillo Salsa

Do you know why people like to order salsa? Because they like to SAY salsa. And what's not to love? It's delicious, goes well with most things, and you can make it how you like. This Roasted Tomatillo Salsa is the perfect addition to your eggs, nachos, chicken, and anything else that needs flavour.


There's something to love about a homemade salsa. It tastes that much better than anything store bought, and you can control the salt levels much more easily. Plus, you can really roast the heck out of the tomatillos and get an excellent char on them. So get to roasting and make this for all your salsa needs!

Ingredients

  • 8-10 whole tomatillos, peels removed
  • 3-5 serrano chilis (3 for mild - 5 for hot)
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 4-5 cloves of garlic, unpeeled
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil
Instructions

Turn on your broiler to high. Wash the waxy/sticky residue off of the tomatillos using warm water and dry thoroughly.
Place everything on a tray, and broil for 5-6 mins, until tomatillos and serranos are charred on one side. Flip all tomatillos and serranos and broil until fairly charred. Remove from oven.
Add all items into high powered blender and blend until smooth. At salt and pepper to taste.
