Apple Spice Bread

This Apple Spice Bread is an easy to make quick bread that can be put together in less than half an hour! It’s a delightful cross between a moist apple bread and decadent spice cake!

So, let’s talk about why this Apple Spice Bread is my new favorite quick bread: Baking this apple quick bread doesn’t require any special equipment…you can leave your mixer in the cupboard! It takes less than 30 minutes from when you decide to make this Spiced Apple Bread until you pop it in the oven. While baking your spiced apple bread, your house will smell heavenly, redolent with cinnamon, apples, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves. By calling it a ‘bread’ you can justify eating a deliciously moist, almost cake, for breakfast! This Apple Quickbread uses up apples that are getting past their prime. Bake this Fall Spice Bread in mini-loaves for gifting!

So, are you sold yet? If not, I challenge you to bake it, sit down with your cup of tea or coffee and a slice of this apple spice bread and not say, “Dang, that is some good bread!” If you are planning to gift this quick bread, make sure to grab the printable of the tags on the website. There are nine tags on each sheet, five that say ‘apple spice bread’ and four that are blank for your own message.

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 heaping 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoons ground nutmeg (freshly ground if possible!)
  • 1/4 teaspoons ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 cup diced apples (2 apples, peeled and seed)
  • 2 Tablespoons milk, nut milk, buttermilk, or apple juice
  • 1 Tablespoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350° for a 9" by 5" loaf or 325° for mini-loaves
Grease loaf pans. (I really like Bak-Klene which you can purchase at Williams-Sonoma.)
Whisk the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger in a large bowl.
In a smaller bowl or large measuring cup, combine oil, eggs, both sugars, applesauce, vanilla, and milk or milk substitute.
Pour wet ingredients over the dry ingredients, along with the diced apples. Gently mix together
Pour the batter into your prepared pan(s). Bake 9" by 5" loaf pan for 55-60 minutes (or mini-loaf pans for 35-40 minutes) or until a cake tester comes out clean.
Cool completely on a wire rack before removing from pans.
Will keep in the fridge for 7-10 days, assuming it doesn't get gobbled up beforehand!
