Super Quick French Toast

I'm a super lazy chef. Ok, so chef is a major stretch here. I'm a cook and even that is a generous term. Preparing food is not my favorite pastime, so I cheat my way through just about every recipe as much as I possibly can.

I mean seriously, you should see how I cheated my way to a 5 Minute Blueberry Pie.

French toast is no exception. I know, there's not all that much prep that goes into making French toast, but a few years ago, I figured out if I eliminated milk or cream from the recipe and made it all in one pan, it didn't change the taste.

It just cut the prep time and the clean up in half and I was able to whip it up in a jiffy on a busy morning and make single serving batches.

And what's better than that?

Ingredients

  • Two slices of bread (your choice, but I use white bread)
  • Cooking spray
  • 1 egg
  • A sprinkle of cinnamon
Instructions

Spray the bottom of a frying pan with cooking spray. Turn heat on low.
Crack the egg directly into the pan and scramble it with a fork. Add cinnamon to taste, if desired.
Drop bread into the egg and move around until completely covered and then flip it over and do the same.
Once completely covered in egg, let each side cook until they're golden brown.
Tips
  • Serve with button and warm syrup for the full weekend breakfast experience. It's the little things.
