When it comes to seasoning your shrimp patties, think of it as composing a symphony of flavors. Burlap and Barrel spices along with a few of my favorite go to’s like Kirkland’s No Salt Seasoning made a fabulous spice profile for these burgers from the sea.


I was not sure how the Burlap and Barrel spices would enhance this recipe, their flavors really shined through. I really like the depth of flavor the ground Black Lime adds and the sweetness from the Purple Stripe Garlic really compliments the shrimp.

Assembling the Shrimp Burger


Assembling your shrimp burger is where creativity truly shines. Imagine your patty nestled within a pita , with fresh baby spinach, and perhaps a dollop of zesty yogurt dip. I mixed up a quick yogurt dip using some of the same spices I added to the burger to help build and even bolder flavor profile.


Dip: 1/4 cup plain yogurt, 1 tsp each; garlic powder, onion powder, black lime, 1/4 tsp chipotle, and a dash of hot sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound shrimp peeled and deveined with the tails removed
  • 1 cup Panko bread crumbs
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 1 tsp chipotle seasoning
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder I used Purple Stripe Garlic
  • 1 tbsp No Salt Organic Seasoning Kirkland
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 tbsp ground black lime could use lime zest
  • 1 tbsp onion powder finely minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions

For the patties, put the peeled and deveined fresh or thawed shrimp in a food processor fitted with a steel blade. Pulse seven times. It’s fine if some of the shrimp are not completely chopped up.
In a large bowl, mix the panko bread crumbs, eggs, chipotle garlic, no salt seasoning, black pepper, parsley, and onion powder. Mix to combine.
Add the breadcrumb mixture to the shrimp in the food processor. Pulse seven times or until everything is just combined. Do not over process.
Divide the mixture into 4 equal sections. Use a very light touch and form the mixture into four patties using your hands. They will be soft and delicate so handle them carefully. Place the patties on a cookie sheet lined with wax or parchment paper and refrigerate for at least one hour for them to firm up.
When you are ready to cook the shrimp burgers, add two tablespoons olive oil to a large skillet over medium heat.
When the oil is hot, carefully place the burgers in the pan and pan-fry for about four minutes on the first side, then flip and continue cooking for an additional three to four minutes. Do not overcook.
Place the patties on a paper towel to drain.
