Apple Crumb Hand Pies
These little hand pies are so cute and easy to grab on the go. They also make a great school box treat, or for anytime really. It is starting to be cool in the mornings and nights here in MIchigan and it is apple season. That makes me want to make all the Fall apple recipes. I wanted to try my hand at making these little pies with a crumb like crust on top of them also and it turned out so good. You can use whatever type of apple you want I used a mostly tart one because I knew the filling and the topping would be sweet. I washed, peeled and cut the apples into small bite size pieces. I added cinnamon and sugar to the apples and then I decided to add a little bit of flour so they would not be too juicy. I rolled out my pie crust, you could use homemade or a store bought crust. I used a large biscuit cutter to cut out perfect rounds. Then I added a tablespoon of apples to the top of the crusts. Then I mixed up my crumble topping by adding all of the ingredients to a bowl and using a fork I mixed it until it formed small pebble like crumbs. I put the crumb topping onto each little pie. I baked them and let them cool. We served them with some vanilla ice cream.
My apples cut up.
