Cinnamon Brioche French Toast
Now, not everything in life needs to be made from scratch. There is much to be said for a semi-homemade meal which is exactly what this is!
I was recently gifted a bakery loaf of cinnamon brioche bread as a housewarming present. So thoughtful! I love a good food gift :) I was not sure how I wanted to eat it and felt butter seemed kind of boring. I remembered my mom used to butter bread and sprinkle cinnamon sugar on it every now and then and was thinking how maximizing on the cinnamon would be really nice. Then I thought French toast...now that sounds great! Enter this cinnamon-y treat which is so easy and feels so decadent to eat.
I cut this loaf into about 8 pieces and dredged in the egg, milk, cinnamon mixture and pan fried it. French toast is SO easy. But, I think it is definitely best eaten fresh, so think about serving time if you are making a bigger brunch etc.
Use whatever bread you have on hand! My mom used to make French toast using cinnamon raisin bread and it was also so good. Anytime you have some loaf style day-old bread, you can whip it into French toast.
See note below on serving amount/sizes.

Cinnamon Brioche French Toast
Recipe details
Ingredients
French Toast
- 8 thick slices of brioche or other thick loaf-style bread
- 4 large eggs
- 2/3 C milk
- 1/8 C granulated sugar
- 1/8 C light brown sugar
- 1/4 C flour
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1.5 tsp vanilla
- pinch of salt
- about 2 Tbsp unsalted butter for cooking
- Maple syrup, powdered sugar, and fresh strawberries for optional toppings
Instructions
French Toast
- Heat your butter in a large non-stick skillet. Get the pan hot but not TOO hot that butter is browning
- Slice your bread and set aside
- Mix all the other ingredients together in a large, shallow dish. I like using a large mixing bowl or 9x13 pan
- Dip the bread into the egg mix to cover both sides completely
- Place into the hot pan and cook for about 2 minutes each side until nicely starting to brown
- Plate and top with optional powdered sugar, maple syrup and sliced strawberries. Eat while hot and fresh and enjoy!
Tips
- With 8 thick slices from a loaf of brioche, this will make 4 LARGE servings. This can definitely be stretched for feed 6-8 if you have more things going on for breakfast, etc.

Sounds yummy. I like to put my syrup to warm up, 25/30 seconds then pour on fresh French toast.
